Contest for Vacations

A contest of youth programs has ended in Rivne conducted by the city fathers to select projects designed to organize civilized recreation for the city’s young people. Unfortunately, due to the lack of financing for properly organizing it, the level of teenage crime grows. Rivne oblast prosecutor Mykola Holomsha said that this year 50 crimes have already been committed by teens.

Ten youth organizations took part in the contest. The commission put forward two strict rules: the projects must be situated in the oblast and at least 50% financed by youth organizations or sponsors’ financing. As a result, five winners were defined: a Progress 2003 Young Ukrainian Culture Festival project suggested by the Tin [Shadow] REP-Club Youth Volunteers, projects of the Hromadianyn [Citizen] School and Youth Club, the Rivne-Plast Stanytsia scouting organization, Congress of Young Nationalists, and a project for a newspaper for schoolchildren suggested by the Rivne Palace of Children and Young People.
