Recently the concert hall of the Lysenko secondary specialized school in Kyiv echoed with the sounds of the Argentinian tango, in all its grandeur. That was a joint art project made by the embassy of the Argentine Republic in Ukraine, the charitable foundation “Gifted Children Are Ukraine’s Future,” and the Lysenko boarding school. It took place within the framework of the UNESCO program “Dialog of Civilizations and Cultures” and was dedicated to the bicentenary of independence of the Argentine Republic.

“The exchange of the cultural heritage between our countries is very important. It allows us to get to know and understand each other better. We are very grateful to Vlada Prokaieva’s foundation for this opportunity,” said Lila Roldan Vazques de Moine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Ukraine, as she opened the evening. “We bring our nations closer through culture, thanks to children: it is them who will have to develop and build relations between our countries in the future.”

The ambassador invited the young musicians to perform in the contest of young violinists, which is to be held in Buenos Aires this summer. She also handed sheet music by Argentine composers to Valentyn Sherstiuk, the principal of the Lysenko school.

Vlada Prokaieva’s foundation intends to hold, together with the Polish embassy, a soiree dedicated to Chopin. Their further plans include a large-scale concert of Russian music in the concert hall of the Philharmonic Society.
