26 October, 00:00
THE NEW TERM AT THE PoDiya SCHOOL OF WOMEN’S POLITICAL LEADERSHIP BEGAN WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE DAY’S NEW PUBLICATION, VIYNY I MYR (WARS AND PEACE). THE DAY’S EDITOR-IN-CHIEF LARYSA IVSHYNA SPENT MORE THAN TWO HOURS ANSWERING STUDENTS’ QUESTIONS. HOWEVER, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO DECIDE WHICH QUESTION WAS THE BEST, SO WE GAVE AWAY AS PRIZES ALL THE BOOKS WE HAD WITH US, EVEN POLISH-LANGUAGE ONES / Photo by Andriy HUDZENKO

During the ceremony to launch the new term at the PoDiya school, head of the Diya All-Ukrainian Women’s People’s Democratic Association Tetiana Kondratiuk said that the members of her organization are eager to take part in distributing the new book from The Day’s Library series, Viyny i myr. According to her, the fact that today the first two books from this series, Ukraine Incognita and Dvi Rusy, have become an invaluable reference work for many women in every branch of this organization is further proof of their importance. “Written in an interesting and popular fashion, they help us to comprehend our own history. They recount episodes from the life of our country of which we were either unaware or looked at them through the prism of Marxism-Leninism. The new book, which focuses on relations between our country and Poland, is another attempt to explain why, among all these debates on language and history, we Ukrainians have forgotten about a common cause that would unite our people.” This is precisely why the Diya Association, which has 27 regional branches numbering 52,900 members, decided to join the promotional campaign for The Day’s new book, said Ms. Kondratiuk.
