The famous sculptor Yevhen Derevianko, whose works are known far beyond Ukraine, held a master class for the participants of the “I Am a Home Keeper” project, who are teenage girls from destitute families, boarding schools and orphanages.

It is a project of the Vlada Prokaeva’s “Gifted children — future of Ukraine” foundation. Yevhen shared his stories about the creation of each piece presented in the Gulf Stream art gallery. The master also spoke about the types of sculpture, techniques and materials used.

“Art is boundless opportunities for a person to express his thoughts, desires, and view of the world and people around them,” became the underlying idea of Yevhen Derevianko’s message to the participants of the social project “I Am a Home Keeper.” Derevianko also drew attention to doll making, a genre of applied arts, which is centuries old.

The master offered the girls to try to make something with their hands. The Gulf Stream teachers showed the future “home keepers” how easy it is to make a doll-amulet, jewelry and accessories — the ensemble was later presented in the exhibition hall. Together with the master the girls made a doll-amulet, which was given to the most active participant of the Vlada Prokaeva’s project Khrystyna Zhelizniak. The master class of the famous sculptor drew the girls-participants closer to the goal — to be worthy representatives of society, to set and reach the aims correctly, to be professionals in their field, and to become caring mothers.
