Singer Liza Bagrationi, a descendant of the illustrious Bagrationi family, held concerts in Sevastopol and Yalta for the first time. Her program was called “From Georgia with Love.” Performing on stages of Sevastopol Lunacharsky Theater and Yalta Chekhov Theater, Bagrationi sang hits of great Georgian composers as well as popular Russian and Ukrainian songs. The Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Crimean Philharmonic Society accompanied the singer, while artistic director of the Georgian State Music Center and principal conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Georgia Nikoloz Rachveli took the conductor’s stand. Bagrationi was born in Tbilisi in 1974. Having given Georgia its kings, her family also displays great love for music. Their house was always full of outstanding musicians from around the world. Singing was not young Bagrationi’s first career choice. She underwent practical piano training at the Tbilisi Academy of Music in the 1980s and 1990s, left Georgia on graduating from the Institute of Foreign Languages in 1995 and went on to study performing arts at Lincoln Center in New York. She started to realize her talent as a singer on return from the US. Bagrationi won many vocal competitions and was repeatedly acclaimed as Singer of the Year. For the Ukrainian public, Bagrationi sang a few duets with popular singer Nato Metonidze, while famous Georgian all-male band Shvidkatsa supplemented the concert program.
