Exhibition of the graphic art collection of the 1930s till the 1970s created by the famous Ukrainian artist will be open in the National Museum of Russian Art from April 6 through 18.

The organizer of the exhibition is the auction house Zoloty Peretyn.

The collection is unique because for the first time in one place there will be exhibited over 30 graphic works from the very rare period of the artist’s life: the 1930s – time of Mykola Hlushchenko’s art trips to Europe (France, Spain, Germany, Italy, etc.).

The visitors will also be able to see the illustrations to the story by Mykola Kotsiubynsky Fata Morgana.

The artist told about them: “I illustrated Kotsiubynsky’s Fata Morgana for the State Publishing House (some of the illustrations have been preserved).

It is sad that a lot of work performed with enthusiams and creative research was lost. Now, after so many years I look at what I did then with eyes of a totally different person. I would never be able to do something like that again.”

The organizers of the exhibition told The Day that beside the early art works by Hlushchenko there was also a block of 35 drawings, that belong to one of the most brilliant periods in artist’s life – the 1970s, when the artist’s genius revealed itself the fullest, is also presented at the exhibition.

The highlight of the exhibition is the watercolor Bouquet of Flowers – the artist’s last painting made a few days before his death. Complete catalogue of all art works with articles and comments of well-known art critics was published especially for the exhibition.
