The movie made by Ukrainian film director Eva Neiman The House with a Turret can be nominated for Oscar Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film Category. On August 23 this movie was taken for consideration by the Ukrainian Oscar Committee and on September 10 they will anounce their final decision.

The House with a Turret has already won the Prize of the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary (the Czech Republic) and also had a resonant premiere in Ukraine.

This is the film drama based on the eponymous autobiographic story by a Russian writer Fridrikh Gorenshtein about an eighth-year-old boy, who is on his way back home from evacuation together with his mom in winter of 1944. The House with a Turret became one of the few attempts in the Ukrainian cinematography to show personal drama of an individual in the World War II.

Among the other potential nominees which may represent Ukraine at the popular film festival experts have named the film by Mykhailo Illienko The Firecrosser, which stayed in top 10 most viewed movies for 46 weeks of screenings.

It is expected that the nominees in 24 categories for Oscar will be announced in the US on January 15, 2013 and the 85th anniversary award ceremony will take place on February 24 in Los Angeles.
