A photo exhibition of icons from the most ancient Serbian monastery of
Khilendar opened October 12 at the National Saint Sophia museum in Kyiv.
This event, without doubt, is interesting not only for connoisseurs of
sacral painting. The monastery's collection of 12-18th century icons includes
masterpieces of Orthodox icon-painting, with a miracle-making icon of Mother
of God with Christ among them (see photo) which, according to legend, was
brought from Jerusalem by one of the founders of Khilendar, Saint Sava.
