An archological expedition of the Institute of History and Law of Sukhomlynsky Mykolaiv State University excavated a 3.5 thousand-year-old settlement, near Rozanivka village, Novobuzky raion, Mykolaiv oblast. Over three thousand findings were revealed.

According to the head of expedition Dmytro Filatov, they will help uncover many secrets of the village settlements’ life of Mykolaiv region in Х16th-13th centuries B.C., Ukrinform reported. The excavation started three years ago. The spot was not randomly chosen. Back in the 1970s the archeologists explored the banks of the Inhul river and noticed terraces near Rozanivka where animal bones and ceramic fragments were washed out by rain. This indicated that people had lived there. Rozanivka is situated on the confluence of the Inhul and Berezivka rivers. There the archeologists found the bones, ceramics and remnants of buildings. Four stone walls and apses were completely excavated.

On the eastern side near the stone wall an economic extension was found. The archeologists found many artifacts, according to which it is possible to more precisely date the settlement. The characteristics of the found materials prove that settled tribes lived near Rozanivka over 3.5 thousand years ago. The form of dishes, typical chaplets of the jugs and the ornaments prove that the Rozanivka settlement belongs to the Sabatyniv culture.
