Five symphonic, four choral, fifteen chamber concerts and an electroacoustic project “EM vision” will take place on various concert stages along with other events (the amount of which is about thirty). Nearly 180 works by 150 composers (including 110 Ukrainians) will be performed by native and foreign symphonic, chamber and choir ensembles and also numerous soloists – one-third of the works are premieres!

“The international palette of the festival includes 17 countries. Among the anticipated foreign guests are: French saxophonist Marc Sieffert, composers from Azerbaijan – Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, Italy – Paolo Rosato, Davide Remigio, Russia – Aleksandr Radvilovich, Aleksandr Gordeichev, Belarus – Yauhen Paplauski, Denmark – Ilja Bergh, conductors from Japan – Ueno Takashi, Italy – Pasquale Veleno, Danish pianist Alexander Vaulin, Swiss vocalist Robert Koller, Austrian guitarist Christina Schorn, Italian percussionist Ivan Manchinelli, Polish musicologist Jerzy Stankiewicz and others,” the Kyiv Music Fest press secretary Olha Holynska told The Day, “The ceremonial opening of the festival (September 24) will be held at the National Philharmonic. This will be the evening of the guests’ fairy premieres – Aleksandr Radvilovich, Franghiz Ali-Zadeh and Ukrainian masters: Yevhen Stankovych, Ihor Shcherbakov, and Ivan Taranen. Their works will be performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, conducted by Volodymyr Sirenko, and the Dumka Choir (artistic director: Yevhen Savchuk). An interesting program will be presented by the Pop Symphony Orchestra (conductor: Mykola Lysenko). “Ukrainian Rhapsody” will present works by Mykhailo Verykivsky, Yakiv Lapynsky, Natalia Boieva, Andrii Matveiev, Volodymyr Ptushkin and Zhanna Kolodub (September 26, the Great Hall of the National Musical Academy). The National Symphony Orchestra impresa “O my soul...” (conductor: Natalia Ponomarchuk) will present compositions by Yuri Ishchenko, Valentyn Silvestrov, Oleksandr Kostin and Oleksandr Yakovchuk (September 29, National Philharmonic). And “East Ukrainian Symphony Express” (September 30) will carry the listeners to the Donetsk authors premieres – Volodymyr Stetsenko, Danylo Milka, Roman Kachalov and Yevhen Petrychenko. The program will be participated by the symphony orchestra and choir of the National Radio Company of Ukraine (led by Volodymyr Sheiko and Yulia Tkach).

On the International Day of Music (October 1), there will be a concert, whose name was taken from Yulia Homelska’s opus “Ukraine Forever.” One of the best works of her teacher, Oleksandr Krasotov, will be performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Mykola Diadiura, along with a Serhii Piliutykov premiere and Levko Revutsky’s piano concerto in its first version, which is yet unknown to the Ukrainian audience.

Chamber concertos form a powerful block of the festival. For example, the Kyiv Camerata ensemble of soloists, led by Valerii Matiukhin, will present four programs of 18 works mostly by Ukrainian composers – one in the National Philharmonic (September 29), and the rest – in an entire series of “Kyiv Camerata Non-Stop” concerts in the hall of the National Union of Composers (October 2). Music lovers will also be interested in the concerts of Kyiv Soloists, Lviv Chamber Orchestra “Academy,” led by Ihor Pylatiuk, the Liatoshynsky ensemble and chamber ensemble “New Music in Ukraine” (artistic director: Volodymyr Runchak).

Festival series “Musical Dialogs”: “Ukraine-Russia” (September 27, Union of Composers, Serhii Piliutykov’s Ricochet Ensemble), “Ukraine-Denmark” (September 27, Foundation for the Art Development, performed by Ilja Bergh and Alexander Vaulin), “Ukraine-Japan” (September 29, Kyiv Children Academy of Arts), “Ukraine-Switzerland” (September 29, Union of Composers, Ricochet), “Kyiv-St. Petersburg” (September 30, National Musical Academy, Post Scriptum Quartet). There will also be choral impreses: “Psalms and prayers,” “Parade of choral premier,” “Awakening.” Creative meetings with composers are also planned: Yauhen Paplauski (Belarus), Paolo Rosato and Davide Remigio (Italy) and others.
