Sorochynstsi Fair opened

The National Sorochyntsi Fair has opened in the village of Velyki Sorochyntsi, Myrhorod district, Poltava oblast. It will last until August 22. The fair traditionally presents the best specimen of the commercially produced foodstuffs and industrial items, and folk-craft articles. It also includes various kinds of entertainments, and concerts of folk musicians and singers. The organizers plan to cook a record-breaking thousand liters of Ukrainian borsch on the official opening day, to which the fair’s participants and visitors will be treated. While last year’s Sorochynski Fair was dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Nikolai Gogol’s birth, the current one celebrates the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
