TETIANA YABLONSKA Wins Cambridge-2000

18 January, 00:00

The International Biographic Center in Cambridge, Britain, is one of the world’s leading publishers turning out Who’s Who? reference books. It has been publishing for more than 50 years such series as The World’s Musicians, World Writers, Outstanding Scholars of the Twentieth Century, and others, over 20 titles. The names are chosen by the biographic center’s expert commission. Every year, dozens of life stories are being studied, with only a part of them earning the honor of being placed on the pages of these unique publications.

In 1999, the expert commission awarded the title of Woman of the Year 2000/2001 to Ukrainian artist Tetiana Yablonska. As is written in the congratulatory letter from Cambridge, this prestigious title can only be bestowed on brilliant persons whose achievements in the international community are generally acclaimed and leadership is doubtless.

Ms. Yablonska herself says, “Yes, this is a very high award. But I don’t consider myself a great artist. I think I have deserved the title because I have always tried to be sincere in my creative work.” This is not the first recognition in the world of our compatriot’s great talent. In 1997 by decision of UNESCO she was named artist of the year. Ms. Yablonska has never striven for glory and honors, she has worked all her life creating works which contain the radiant light of belief in the long-lasting and eternal values of human being. The noble ethos in conjunction with the artist’s skill yielded an excellent result: on the eve of a new millennium, the word Ukraine again sounded in a high context for the whole world to hear.
