A poll conducted in Verkhovna Rada's corridors found out that People's Deputies adhere mostly to the Voronin style (as, for instance, former President Leonid Kravchuk of the SDPU[u] does). Among foreign firms Valdi suits are preferred. Vyacheslav Chornovil of Rukh wears one.
People's Deputy Havrylov from the Greens, wearing Salamander shoes, confirms the high as always quality of German goods with his light step. At the same time their leader Kononov cuts the figure of a man in black.
The same poll revealed the fact that after more businessmen came to Verkhovna Rada there are more stylish people among the Deputies. Thus, the good tradition founded by Shcherban, Teriokhin, Holovaty, and Rzhavsky has taken root in parliamentary circles.
Observation of sales at the Verkhovna Rada bookstore also provided some interesting results. A dictionary of slang and book of anecdotes became bestsellers there. Surprising as it may be, a cookbook also placed among them. This is really a surprise, because up to now there have been no complaints about the parliamentary cuisine.
Communist leader Petro Symonenko proposed an instruction to ban using mobile phones in the session hall to be adopted. Indeed, one can hardly imagine what would happen when all the mobile phones would ring at once during a session, especially given that the mobile phone density per square meter at Verkhovna Rada fully meets the best European standards.
Communist Deputy Moiseyenko's proposal to take out of the Parliament all service personnel except from those "taking care of Deputies' physiological needs" caused a long-lasting resonance in the Solons' hearts and minds – they could hardly determine who exactly was taking care of which needs.
While proposing Pavlo Lazarenko be elected Speaker, People's Deputy Hnatiuk promised to sing a song from the podium if a Speaker is elected. That finally happened, but we have not yet heard Mr. Hnatiuk's aria. Those are just a few of the strange things that have occurred in Parliament thus far. And just think what could happen later on.
