A group of German poets returned from Kharkiv to Kyiv last week after presenting the literary project “Lyrik/Lyrics” jointly with the 500 Ukrainian creative association. Both their trip to Ukraine and publication of the book are actually to be credited to the German Ministry of Culture and Nuremberg City Hall financial support. Andriy Kokotiukha, one of the most dedicated project originators on the Ukrainian side, told journalist Zoya Hamura that “our government agencies have nothing whatsoever to do with this project.”
Meanwhile the project helped popularize young Ukrainian poets Ivan Andrusiak, Anatoly Dnistrovy, Serhiy Zhadan, Maksym Rozumny, Oleksandra Kovaliova, and Ihor Bondar-Tereshchenko, primarily among reading students, and their texts constitute half the Lyrik/Lyrics collection.
