Where there is no law, but every man does what is right in his own eyes, there is the least of real liberty

Use Rowan Berries as Beads

13 November, 2012 - 00:00

Are you a romantic? Of course, you are. Today let's do something with the bounty of fall and get ready for a party.

To make the party a success, suitable surroundings have to be created. So let's get started. A rowan or ashberry composition will be the centerpiece of your table decoration. To accomplish this task, take a shallow clay plate, oasis (a sponge for fixing fresh plants), a length of wire, and Scotch tape. You also need garden material such as pears, grapevine, pods of green hot pepper, rowan berries, and maple wings. Now if you've got all the necessary components, you can wave a conductor's band to begin your rowan symphony.

For your overture put the oasis into cold water and leave it to soak. Then cut a semi-spherical shell and tape it crosswise to a plate. Gather maple wings into a small bunches and fix them together with a wire. Arrange some rowan branches in bunches and attach them to the wire as well. String the rest of the rowan berries on thread to get a bead necklace. This is certain to revive nostalgic memories of your childhood. Then make small "legs" of wire for pepper rods. Now the overture is over, and we pass on to the most important part of our symphony.

Following a classical tradition, large components of bright colors have to be made the center of a composition. Pears and rowan berries are just the things. Then we arrange other materials around them in a semi-spherical fashion.

Make sure that the "legs" of the composition components are inserted three-four centimeters deep into oasis. Now our composition is almost complete, and we can decorate it with a grapevine and our beautiful rowan berry necklace. Our symphony approaches its crescendo.

A symbol of nature's wisdom and generosity, our autumnal composition can make a wonderful adornment for a festive table. You only need to create a proper setting for it, by arranging goblets with sparkling champagne and burning candles around it. Now turn on the music. Well, it seems to me it has already been playing as we created our rowan composition.
