America Commits Funds to Foster Democracy in Ukraine

The Press, Education, and Culture Department at the US Embassy in Ukraine has announced an open contest for non-governmental and non-profit organizations in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk oblasts as part of the Democratic Grants Program aimed at fostering democratic transformation in Ukraine. The total budget of the program is $150,000. According to UNIAN, American embassy representatives told a press conference that at least twelve projects promoting the protection of human rights, supremacy of law, public education, economic reforms, and support of social initiatives will be funded. The deadline for submitting projects is November 2. The maximum project implementation term is twelve months. Embassy representatives believe that the political situation in the USA will not affect the implementation of future projects and of this program aimed to help Ukrainian society.
