The British Give Homes to Zakarpattia Children

03 February, 00:00

Recently the head of the Zakarpattia Oblast State Administration Ivan Rizak met with representative of the Hope and Homes for Children international organization Mark Cook and head of this organization in Ukraine Halyna Pustoliuk. They described their major goal as “giving the children a family and decent future from charitable contributions from private persons and sponsors in Great Britain.” At present, this organization is sponsoring 53 foster orphanages in Ukraine. One of these institutions was founded by them in Khust. It is planned to create similar orphanages in Velyka Bereznia, Perechyn, and Svaliava districts. The governor supported the English philanthropists’ idea.

The Hope and Homes for Children organization was founded ten years ago by the Cook family. Mark Cook is a former British UN Commander in Croatia. The President of Ukraine decorated him with an award for his charitable activities. The organization created by Mr. Cook renders assistance to children who have suffered from military conflicts and natural calamities, reports Vasyl ZUBACH, Uzhhorod.
