Chernomyrdin Awards Orders

Russia’s Ambassador of Russia to Ukraine Viktor Chernomyrdin awarded three outstanding Ukrainian figures in science and culture the Order of Friendship. The ceremony was held on September 26 at the Embassy of the Russian Federation. In part, Mr. Chernomyrdin presented the order to the art director of Franko National Academic Drama Theater, renowned theater and film artist Bohdan Stupka. The decree by Russian President Vladimir Putin says that Mr. Stupka was awarded the Order of Friendship “for merits in the development of the dramatic arts and contribution in strengthening Ukrainian-Russian ties.”

Also First Deputy Minister of Education and Science and Director of the National Academy of Sciences Main Astronomical Observatory Yaroslav Yatskiv and head of Saturn Science and Production Enterprise under the Ministry of Industrial Policy Volodymyr Chmil were decorated “for their contribution to strengthening Ukrainian-Russian cooperation in science and technology.” The new holders of the order had their photos taken together with Ambassador Chernomyrdin.
