Chernomyrdin’s Challenge

The book by Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Viktor Chernomyrdin titled The Challenge will appear in Kyiv by the end of this year, according to Interfax-Ukraine. On September 10, the ambassador visited the printing house that is making a test print run of the book, received a crash course in printing, and familiarized himself with the company’s products. To quote Mr. Chernomyrdin, the book addresses the Kosovo events of 1999. As he put it, his Challenge is the challenge of the times. “The idea to write the book didn’t originate all of a sudden. I could write it on the heels of the 1999 events. But when the Iraq affair started to unfold, which in fact was a repetition of what happened in Kosovo, and no lessons whatever were drawn, I decided to write about what had happened, what is happening, and where this will lead,” he said. The press run and date of the release are still unknown. The test print run is expected to be 1,000 copies.
