1918: Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky of Ukraine steps down in favor of the Directory.

1927: The All-Ukrainian Executive Committee and Radnarkom of Ukraine adopt a decree on privileges for “labor heroes.”

1943: Troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front clear Cherkasy of the Wehrmacht in the course of an operation aimed at extending the bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnipro.

1947: The Council of Ministers of the USSR and CC VKP(b) adopt the decree “On the Monetary Reform and Cancellation of Rations and Industrial Goods Cards.”

2001: Independent Ukraine’s first census is carried out. 2004: Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that there will be more international observers to monitor the rerun of the second presidential election round.

2004: “Friendship Train” leaves Kyiv terminal to tour Ukraine’s eastern, southern, and northern regions to help a bona fide presidential rerun.
