1899: The Monetary Statute is instituted in Russia, indicating the completion of the monetary reform initiated by Finance Minister Sergei Witte, introducing gold standard and free credit ruble exchange for gold.

1925: The world’s first space exploration exhibit opens in Kyiv.

1964: The date of death of William Dzus, an American engineer of Ukrainian descent, inventor of the quarter-turn fastener (also known as the Dzus fastener, often used to secure skin panels on aircraft), one of the founders and president of the Ukrainian Institute of America.

1979: The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR resolves to confer the Order of Lenin on Donetsk.

1993: A congress of the Communist Party of Ukraine convenes in Donetsk and proclaims the resumption of this organization.

1996: Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan sign a friendship and cooperation treaty.
