1672: Hetman Petro Doroshenko of Ukraine seizes Kamianets-Podilsky.

1924: Date of birth in Kyiv of Mykhailo Braichevsky, Ukrainian historian, archaeologist, man of letters, public figure, to specialize in old Slavic history and culture.

1946: The Soviet of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR adopts a decree establishing in Lviv the State Institute of Everyday and Decorative Art.

1994: Ukraine and the People’s Republic of China sign a number of cooperation agreements dealing with navigation and trade exchanges, postal and electronic communications during Chairman Jiang Zemin’s official visit to Kyiv. Agreements are also made between the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs and PRC’s Ministry of Public Security.

2000: The UN Millennium Summit begins; President Leonid Kuchma of Ukraine comes up with a number of proposals meant to raise the international community to a higher level of relationships, and holds more than 20 loose-tie meetings with heads of state.
