Where there is no law, but every man does what is right in his own eyes, there is the least of real liberty

The Day Supplements University Of Bern Library

13 November, 2012 - 00:00

On September 9 the Editorial Office was visited by Roger Blum, Ph.D. (Journalism), University of Bern, and Marianna Herold, Vice President of the Ukraine-Switzerland Association. They arrived in Kyiv to take part in a seminar called The State and the Future of Journalism in a Pluralistic Society, and visiting The Day was a logical component of their program. The learned Swiss guests were primarily interested in finding out how a totally unaffiliated publication with no government support and aloof from ideological and narrow party dogmatism could exist, win the reader's unwavering attention, be published in three languages, and keep its coverage balanced and unbiased. They spared few compliments, and Dr. Blum (former editor of the Swiss counterpart to The Day, Die Tag) also praised the newspaper's design, adding that he would be glad to add it to the university library's stock.
