<i>The Day</i> treats Kyivans on “Random Acts of Kindness Day”

On February 17, for the fifth year in a row, mankind celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day. Initiated by international charities and open to all ethnicities and denominations, the event is little known in Ukraine as of yet. However, at The Day we believe it is necessary. Continuing on the tradition we established last year, we welcomed Kyivans with an act of kindness — a copy of our publication.

Most of those we met were unaware of the existence of such an event, but we were pleasantly surprised nonetheless. “I smile all my life and wish everyone to smile,” a shop assistant at a supermarket in the capital told our reporters, thanking them for improving her mood. The Random Acts of Kindness Day should generate good feelings and desires. As the famous American writer Mark Twain once said: “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
