04 February, 00:00

“In the former Soviet Union, there was a prestigious award, the Sign of Quality, which served as a stimulus for winning the so-called socialistic contest. Nowadays, market economy encourages good quality among products. Popularity of the best trademarks helps everyone else to keep up, which in turn improves the country’s image and well-being,” said Academician Ivan Kuras at the recent award ceremony of the Golden Trademarks National contest. Honorary signs and diplomas were given to the winners of this competition.

Every year from March 15 to September 15 registered trademarks send their applications for the contest to its General Directorate. The conditions for participation are clear — an impeccable image, popularity with customers, high quality of goods or service, and, most importantly, involvement in charity activities that are aimed at improving Ukraine’s socio-economic situation. About 2000 famous companies applied for the contest last year. One hundred of them were granted the honorary title. The main award ceremony took place at the end of 2002. Best of the best were selected through consulting with various ministries and local authorities. We are pleased that our newspaper was among the winners of honorary diplomas. First President of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, who served as the head of the organizing committee, reminded everybody that the goal of the contest was to pay tribute to those who implement the best European experience. Incidentally, this year the Golden Trademarks contest will be held in two nominations — National and International, reports Natalia MELNYK, The Day.
