E-mail to Our Soldiers in Iraq

16 September, 00:00

Ukrainian peacekeepers in Iraq now have their own website. You can receive detailed information about the life of our contingent in that country by clicking on www.mil. gov.ua/5ombr/index. php.

In particular, this site reports that the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Fifth Detached Mechanized Brigade, now part of the international stabilization force in Wasit province, has completed the first stage of establishing a local digital data transfer network. This network embraces all branches of the brigade’s staff. Based on two servers, it comprises twenty computerized work stations. All the computers are equipped with specialized software and an e-mail system. The second stage is expected to see the establishment of a united local network which will link up the staffs of all the brigade’s battalions. According to Dmytro Levandovsky, in charge of the brigade’s communications, information, and computerized control systems, all the computers and the installed operations system fully fit in with similar equipment used by other peacekeeping contingents. Thanks to this, the Ukrainian peacekeepers will very soon have access to a similar network in the higher Central South Headquarters of the multinational stabilization force in Khilla (Camp Babylon), 210 kilometers from El-Qut.
