Assemblage of Chinese trucks at Ukrainian plant to resume in April

Kremenchuk Automobile Assembling Plant Ltd. (Poltava oblast), which is part of AIS group, will resume production of Chinese-designed FAW trucks from April 2011, said the company’s director Mykola Chernysh. According to him, the company plans to assemble around 500 such vehicles this year. “We have purchased the first batch of components. We will assemble the first samples for testing and certification. We expect the first sales of FAW trucks to occur as soon as the late April-early May,” he said. Chernysh added that production of trucks at the plant was stopped in 2008 because of decreased demand for such products and pricing disputes between FAW and the Ukrainian enterprise.
