Government to Continue

11 December, 00:00

Verkhovna Rada Deputy Speaker Stepan Havrysh believes the Ukrainian government will continue working at least until the parliamentary elections. Answering a question at a December 3 regional mass media press conference in Kyiv, Mr. Havrysh stressed that there should be compelling reasons for a vote of no confidence in the government. The vice speaker voiced his disapproval of all talk about the government’s impending fall. Moreover, according to Interfax- Ukraine, Mr. Havrysh expressed concern that following the elections this discussion will assume a political character. The vice speaker believes the upcoming parliamentary election will make it possible to form a coalition in Verkhovna Rada that could pave the way for a coalition government able to work throughout the term of the new Verkhovna Rada convocation. Accordingly, deputies will exercise their plenary powers and pass laws, which, in fact, is the main task of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada. Deputy Speaker Viktor Medvedchuk believes that Ukrainian deputies are coping with this task effectively and are showing positive results.
