Herbst Doest Not Believe in Muscle Flexing

The US Ambassador to Ukraine, John Herbst, thinks it would be “barbaric” to have a violent scenario in the presidential runoff in Ukraine. “It is difficult to imagine that the people who are in power would use force; it is difficult to believe that the Ukrainian military and police would fire on their own compatriots. I think it is a barbaric thought, and I don’t believe this can happen,” the diplomat said, addressing students of the Ukrainian-American Humanitarian Institute at Wisconsin International University in Ukraine. At the same time, the ambassador noted that if people still take to the streets, “this would be an organized action,” Interfax reports.
