Herbst’s Word

“My main goal is to improve all aspects of our bilateral relationship,” said new American Ambassador John Herbst (L). Yesterday the ceremony took place of the ambassador submitting his credentials to Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryshchenko. During the meeting with the press the head of Foreign Ministry stated that Ukraine “has found a reliable and professional partner” in Ambassador Herbst. The minister is convinced that “in general, without the United States serious problems cannot be solved.”In his turn the ambassador stated that Washington wants to see Ukraine “integrated into the Euro-Atlantic community,” adding, “In order for this integration to be more successful and our relationship to become stronger, we look with hope to the future when the Ukrainian people can embody in life its democratic expectations by conducting free and fair presidential elections next year,” the American diplomat underlined. He also spoke warmly of Ukraine’s decision to send peacekeepers to Iraq.
