ZHYTOMYR — On April 19, The Day’s photo exhibit of the best works of 2010 left the walls of the Ivan Franko Zhytomyr State University. The exhibit had spent three weeks there, and became quite an event in the region. The guest book, full of entries (by the way, this is already the sixth volume!) by those who had seen the photographs and decided to share their impressions, will follow.

The attention of the public was drawn by photographs of various genres. The vote shows that the work by Liudmyla Hoshko, Rivne, called Dark and Ginger was the most popular. Next was The Last Class by Mykola Turchyn from Chernihiv. The Forgotten Melody by Kostiantyn Bobryshchev from Kobeliaky, Poltava oblast came in third.

Entries in the guest book were also made on the final days, and they were filled with optimism.

N. SHCHUR, S. SUPRUNCHUK, S. BERKUTA:

“A very beautiful photo exhibit! In each picture you can see the awakening of a Ukrainian’s dreams.”

Liudmyla IREL, student:

“Thank you for the exhibit, the emotions it evoked, and the inspiration for our future work. I especially loved the photos of children. The pictures are fascinating, free and easy, and positive. I look forward to future events.”

Maksym DODYKO, student, Institute of Foreign Philology, Ivan Franko Zhytomyr State University:

“It is nice when the young pay attention to global issues. I am proud to live in a country full of talented people.”

Dmytro BASHYNSKY:

“I want to thank The Day for a wonderful photo exhibit. The photos are very different, some emanate joy, others sadness, and still others show the unique Ukrainian character and soul. I would like to specially thank Ruslan Kaniuka for his photograph Terra Incognita. Indeed, Ukraine remains largely unknown, and the scariest thing is that so many Ukrainians will not even try to get to know it.”

Vlad PUSHYCH, journalist:

“I am sincerely grateful for the emotions and impressions from the photo exhibit. The work titled Without Dovzhenko is overwhelming; The Land of Dreams is ultra-positive. But it is Stormy Petrel that got to me the most. Thank you for reminding me what a beautiful land we are living in and what interesting people live among us. Keep up the good work.”
