Kyiv gets spiced up,

Finally, American rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers have played in Ukraine. The long-awaited concert lasted for more than two hours at the Olimpiisky National Sports Complex. During this time, 15 songs of the main program were played, and then the musicians put the FC Dynamo jerseys and played five more songs encore.

This is the first time the legendary band has been to Ukraine, and it seems they liked it. Bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary posted on Twitter after the concert: “Kyiv is blowing my mind what an amazing city. People are warm and nice. Streets are beautiful. Architecture old and hypnotic.” The musician also liked Ukrainian money; he uploaded a photo of hryvnia bills to Twitter too. And the vocalist Anthony Kiedis was spotted in one of Kyiv art galleries with his four-year-old son. Meanwhile, the fans have been watching for the band members at the hotel, and were finally rewarded for waiting. Ukrainian fan club presented the Red Hot Chili Peppers with a sculpture that depicted the band members.

The concert, the first announcement of which was made half a year ago, started on time. Two famous bands, The Vaccines and Kasabian, warmed up the masses before the Red Hot Chili Peppers made their appearance on the stage.

“Judging from the videos of other European concerts of the band, this performance bested the previous ones,” told The Day the old-time Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, state official Mykhailo Pyrkh. “When the musicians showed up on the stage wearing FC Dynamo Kyiv jerseys, it was clear they were charmed with our country. The atmosphere was very warm, and the technical side of the concert was flawless. The Red Hot Chili Peppers is a name that speaks for itself. These guys are one of the best live bands in the world!”

Anton and Olena came from Zaporizhia for the concert. “Some Ukrainian musicians improvise during their performances, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers played very close to their studio recording,” Anton marked. “I also loved that even despite the fact the musicians are not that young anymore (three of them are almost 50), they perform better than many young bands.”
