On November 24 the third stage of the Left's all-Ukrainian protest
action took place with the All-Ukrainian Union of Workers, Socialist Party
of Ukraine, and other representatives of the Bloc of Left Forces taking
part. No more than 400 persons, a far cry from the 10,000 expected, marched
with red flags from Maidan Nezalezhnosty (Independence Square) to the Presidential
Administration. The picketers' demands were not new: removing the President
and changing the government's basic political course. The Presidential
Administration was picketed only briefly due to the cold and advanced age
of most of the participants. Vasyl Arestov, Kyiv coordinator of the Left
Bloc, promised that this action will not be the last.
