International festival brought together prominent musicians of our timeInternational Music Festival “Music without Limits” opened in Dnipropetrovsk. The festival clearly stands out among creative projects of Mikhail Glinka Dnipropetrovsk Conservatory. Four-day creative interaction with prominent musicians of our time during concerts, workshops, professional meetings, conferences are of invaluable benefit for students and the audience.
The festival is traditionally held in the fall and spring and presents masterpieces of classical music, written for a variety of academic instruments. This tradition was established in pre-revolutionary Katerynoslav (now Dnipropetrovsk). Opening of a local branch of the Imperial Russian Musical Society with musical classes in 1898 became the starting point in the development of musical culture and musical education in Dnipropetrovsk. Already in 1901 Katerynoslav Music School began its work. Music school teachers actively participated in concerts. Performing of outstanding musicians such as Leonid Sobinov, Feodor Chaliapin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Leopold Auer, Alexander Scriabin, Josef Hofmann, Jascha Heifetz, and others were of great importance for the development of musical culture in the region. In the Soviet time the school remained the main institution that trained professional musicians.
With the opening of Mikhail Glinka Dnipropetrovsk Conservatory in 2006 not only the qualitative renewal of higher music education in the central region of Ukraine was made possible, but also the rapid development of concert, festival, and music competition events.
