National Art Museum Needs Help

"There is a presidential decree and relevant government resolutions on
the allocation of funds to renovate it, but not a single kopiyka has been
received so far. This is why I fully support all actions of the Friends
of the National Museum International Charitable Foundation," said Curator
of the National Museum Mykhailo Romanishyn at a press conference.

Working on the principle of trustee councils in large museums in all
developed countries, Friends of the National Museum plan to update somewhat
its concept by working out alternative cultural and entertainment projects,
without interfering in the museum's research and plans.

The foundation head Iryna Stetsura described a project which is to earn
by August 13 the money needed for reconstruction of the museum's main entrance.
The disastrous condition of this architectural monument, which requires
$40 million for complete reconstruction, prodded the Friends to search
for funds in a so far unusual way. The beautiful and rarely visited Ukrainian
Governmental House of Receptions will host a jazz concert with a festive
dinner on May 2, the Yeva magazine is going to organize a fashion show
on the museum steps on May 22, and there will be a grand fancy-dress ball
in the museum itself. All proceeds from selling the $50 invitations and
additional charitable contributions will be given the museum, while the
participants in the concerts and shows will work for free. The contact
phone numbers for all those wishing to assist this noble enterprise are
442-45-61, 264-78-72.
