Odesa-Brody To Reach Plock

On November 26 the Ukrainian government approved the wording of a Ukrainian-Polish international agreement on the integration of the Odesa-Brody pipeline with Polish oil transport facilities and entrusted Vice Premier Vitaly Haiduk with signing the agreement. That same day he met with European Commission Vice President Loyola de Palacio and Polish Vice Premier Marek Pol in Brussels to discuss the further development of the Odesa-Brody- P л lock project and presented it to the attending representatives of business circles, international financial organizations, and diplomats.

That same night, The Day’s correspondent called Mykhailo Honchar, chief of staff of Ukraine’s special Eurasian Oil Transport Corridor (EOTC) negotiator representing Ukrtransnafta President Oleksandr Todiychuk, in Brussels, who said that both documents have been signed. The first document is the international Ukrainian-Polish agreement on the operation of the Odesa-Brody system and its integration with the Polish oil transport system. The second document is a trilateral declaration of the EC, Ukraine, and Poland on the further development of this project. Honchar stressed that the declaration has been signed under new conditions, now that Ukraine and Poland have created a legislative basis for the project to build the connective Brody-Plock pipeline, thereby starting the implementation and further development of the EOTC project to transport light Caspian oil to European markets. According to Honchar, after signing the mentioned documents, the delegation heads stressed the significance of the EOTC as a system that creates new possibilities for ensuring energy security of the EU in general and its new members in particular. According to him, they also pointed to the possibility of effectively using the created infrastructure of the project, whose commercial benefits have been confirmed at the stage of its business planning.
