OSCE Criticism Belated, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Believes

17 July, 00:00

The critical recommendations of the Committee on Political Issues and Security of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly concerning Ukraine “came way too late and are not timely for Ukraine’s domestic political and economic situation,” said Foreign Ministry Press Service Acting Chief Serhiy Borodenkov at a July 10 briefing. The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly approved this resolution at a July 8 session in Paris. According to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, provisions of this document “are lacking in objectivity, impartiality, and do not facilitate strengthening of political tranquillity in Ukrainian society.” Borodenkov also expressed dissatisfaction at the “passivity” of Ukraine’s parliamentary delegation during the discussion of the issue at the session. The Ukrainian deputies did nothing to remove the resolution from the agenda and abstained from voting.
