PACE to Consider Problem Of Freedom of Expression In Ukraine on January 25

A hearing on the problem of mass media freedom in Ukraine is slated for Thursday, January 25 in the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council. According to the preliminary agenda of the PACE winter session, the hearing on the mass media situation in Russia, organized by the Committee on Culture, Science, and Education, has been scheduled for Monday, January 22 in Strasbourg. Freedom of the press in other countries is also expected to be discussed within a week. The January 25 PACE session is also to discuss the situation in Chechnya along with the problems of refugees and emigrants from Chechnya, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
