Presidential Administration Believes There Is More “Common Sense” Now

09 November, 00:00

The presidential elections demonstrated that Ukraine is a democracy, said deputy chairman of the Presidential Administration Vasyl Baziv last Friday. According to him, the first round indicated the “collapse of the mythology of election managers and a victory of the people’s common sense, which rejects electioneers’ claims that voters have to choose between paradise and hell.” Mr. Baziv emphasized that the election has also confirmed “the defeat of the party of war that is concentrated in various election headquarters.” “This party adopted Trotskyite phraseology and tried to fan the so-called revolution, which did not and could not occur,” he said, adding, “There can be no revolution in a state where the economy is rising by 12-14%.” The Presidential Administration’s deputy chief also called on the public not to lose their calm because the Central Electoral Commission has not finished tallying the votes in the first round of the presidential elections, noting that the Law on the Election of President allows ten days for vote counting. Commenting on the election results, Mr. Baziv said the course of the elections showed that it is quite realistic to implement the constitutional reform.
