On July 1, The Day 's editorial board summed up in the conference
room the results of the Every Day with The Day Lottery. It will
be recalled that, according to the rules, readers were to fill out questionnaires
from May 6 to 29 with reviews of materials in our newspaper. 204 contestants
took part, and answers were drawn by lottery. Lady Luck smiled on 20 contestants,
including 9 Kyivans. First prize went to the Meritorious Teacher of Ukraine
V. H. Shevchenko. Y. I. Morentsov and L. I. Krazhenko each won vacations
for two in Bulgaria sponsored by the Artex and Wiederstrahl travel agencies.
One, B. Ya. Afanasiev, a disabled World War II veteran, is unable to go
to Bulgaria because of his health. As compensation from The Day,
he was given on June 2 in Chernihiv a prize cash and valuable gift, an
electric mixer. Others won such prizes as a Philips radio from The Day
and Italian-made sunglasses from Technomed.
