Prosecutors General of Central and Eastern Europe Meet in Sofia

A Ukrainian delegation led by Ukrainian Prosecutor General Mykhailo Potebenko is taking part in the Sofia, Bulgaria, meeting of Central and Eastern European prosecutors general, dedicated to the problems of cooperation between the prosecuting offices in combating international organized crime and corruption. As Interfax-Ukraine was informed last Thursday at the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office press center, the top prosecutors of the European countries are slated to discuss within two days the possibilities of and prospects for establishing a united system of law enforcement cooperation and information exchange. Addressing the meeting, Mr. Potebenko made a number of concrete proposals to improve the legal instruments of cooperation among the crime-fighting institutions. The meeting also plans to discuss legal assistance in certain criminal cases, including the one against former Ukrainian Premier Pavlo Lazarenko.
