Tarasiuk and Horbulin Claim Ukraine Supplied No Heavy Weapons to Africa

27 April, 00:00
Foreign Minister Borys Tarasiuk referred to the news about Ukraine's supplies of heavy arms to African countries as a case study in "dirty propaganda being spread by certain centers." Speaking at a seminar of regional media people, Mr. Tarasiuk pointed out that any transfer of weapons classed as heavy armaments is prohibited under the European conventional arms treaty. "The question is, who needs such allegations. While we spend time checking out sources, such allegations spread and damage the state," he added. NSDC Secretary Volodymyr Horbulin, also present at the seminar, stated that all investigated cases of Ukrainian aircraft supplies proved every fifth to be true, and that in every case such aircraft were the private property of certain companies. Mr. Horbulin further declared that Ukraine cannot assume responsibility for such cases, but that it is its duty to prevent the impoundment of such aircraft as may have registration numbers indicating their being stationed in Ukrainian airports, reports Interfax Ukraine.
