THERE WILL BE NO SENSATION

11 September, 00:00

On September 4, the parliamentary ad hoc commission investigating the bankruptcy of the Ukrayina Joint Stock Commercial Bank met in regular session. Commission Deputy Chairman Viktor Suslov told The Day, “The results of the commission’s work will be submitted for Verkhovna Rada consideration next week.” However, he continued, the investigating deputies will not have any sensational revelations. “Due to the extreme reluctance of the NBU, Bank Ukrayina, and law enforcement officials to provide us with the information we need we will probably not be able to confirm facts we have collected about the debtors of Ukraine’s former flagship bank.” In addition, as Mr. Suslov believes, “Investigating Commission Chairman Viktor Korol might be forced to temporarily disband the commission.” Perhaps the influential persons to blame for Ukrayina’s bankruptcy will remain unknown. However, we pin our slender hopes on our law enforcement officials who did a good job keeping the secrets of investigation and refused to provide both the public and the people’s deputies with the information about the bank’s deadbeats.
