“This is the truthful story of the struggle...”

The ATO Museum, which was opened in Dnipro this summer, is now one click away. Through the internet one can take a tour on the vicinity of the notorious Donetsk airport, visit Debaltseve, examine an anti-aircraft gun, an armored personnel carrier, and a completely wrecked ambulance car which was used to transport wounded soldiers. According to the press service of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration, the tour is available in 3D. A smartphone or PC can access any part of the outdoor display, which features nearly 400 exhibits collected by volunteers, ATO veterans, and the Historical Museum staff. That includes military vehicles and weapons, used in Donbas: a mortar, an anti-aircraft unit, a military jeep. The exhibition features a real military checkpoint and road signs – milestones of the war’s progress.

The idea of this 3D-tour belongs to Andrii Aharkov, ATO veteran. “When I first visited the ATO museum in Dnipro, I realized that every Ukrainian should see it. This is the truthful story of our independence struggle, and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration made it perfectly accessible,” says Aharkov.

The first and so far the only ATO Museum in Ukraine is an outdoor complex located near the buildings of Dmytro Yavornytsky Dnipro National Museum. According to the staff, this was the first stage of making such a museum. In the second stage, the museum’s display is going to be opened at the premises of “Battle for the Dnipro” diorama. In the meantime, the staff of the Historical Museum collects and organizes the exhibits. Everyone is invited to volunteer any kind of help for this project.
