Every year the Society of Photo Artists makes a kind of account to the public, in the form of an exhibit in Kyiv which includes works of photographers from all over Ukraine. At the same time, this is a great opportunity to understand the dominant tendencies in the modern Ukrainian photo art. This year’s exposition of the 16th annual photo exhibit is represented with 132 works of different genres by 78 authors from 20 oblasts of Ukraine. All of them are winners of the photo contest that took place before the exhibit. During October the jury picked the best works out of more than 1,500 photos. Contestants competed in four nominations: Black and White Photography, Color photography, Experiment, and Nature.

Taras Perun (Chernivtsi) won in two nominations. His Old Man and Umbrella brought him gold in the nomination Black and White Photography, while photographs From the Absurdism Series and Urban Cityscape were the best in the nomination Experiment. Yurii Chernevy (Bolekhiv) became the winner of the nomination Color Photography with his Sacristan (by the way, Chernevy has often taken part in The Day’s photo exhibits). In the nomination Nature, gold went to Cape by Viktor Sokolov (Sevastopol).

Besides medals and diplomas from the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine, the winners of the contests were awarded prizes by the project’s sponsors, companies ProFOTO and KATA (photographic equipment and the opportunity to use a photo studio for free).

The exhibit of the National Society of Photo Artists is open till November 30 at the art gallery Mystetsky Korydor (Arkadia shopping center). The works of the winners and participants of the contest are also available at the website of the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine.
