Ukrainian Germans for Reunion

On October 3 over 200 Wiedergebirth (rebirth) Association representatives picketed the German Embassy in Ukraine demanding that the Bundestag soften conditions for the repatriation of ethnic Germans living in Ukraine. As association head Henrich Grout told Interfax-Ukraine, during the last five years Germany has toughened conditions for ethnic Germans to return to their fatherland by setting higher requirements, a language test in particular. “This requirement is viewed as a form of repression, for because of it the families are separated. There was no such separation even in Soviet times”, Grout emphasized.
