UN Confirms that Ukraine Never Sold Arms to Iraq

18 June, 00:00

An official letter UN Secretary General Kofi Annan sent to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Anatoly Zlenko says that a UN inquiry has spotted no facts that Ukraine has illegally supplied arms or military equipment to Iraq, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service reports. The UN Secretary General’s letter also emphasizes that the UN special monitoring, verification, and inspection commission on Iraq does not have any information that a certain country or organization has leveled such charges against Ukraine (it was alleged, particularly, that Ukraine supplied its Kolchuha air defense radar systems to Iraq). The ministry says the UN inquiry was conducted at the request of Ukraine.
