Volunteer Students from Six European States Work in Kyiv Caves Monastery

Student volunteers have come to Ukraine from Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and Poland to join efforts with local young people. They live in dormitories, hotels, and tents, dining in local cafes and fast food establishments. Their work day ends at lunch, and then they are on their own. The organization which invited the volunteers, Alternative V, pays their room and board. Organization vice president Valery Bidnoshy told The Day that similar projects are planned in Ukraine for the next five years and that nearly 100 students will come to Ukraine to spend their summer vacations in up to ten camps.
