November 21. Iwaki. American billionaire, chairman of the investment holding company Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffett, whose net worth is estimated at 39 billion dollars, first came to Japan to take part in the opening of the new plant Tungaloy Corporation, a manufacturer of cutting tools.

The new plant is located in Fukushima prefecture, about 40 kilometers from the nuclear power plant, which suffered greatly as a result of the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011. At the press conference before Japanese journalists the 81-year-old billionaire also mentioned that he is still interested in Japanese industry and that the scandal about the optical equipment manufacturer Olympus Corporation does not negate the statement that there are many good and financially healthy companies in Japan.

He also noted that despite natural disasters Japan remains attractive for investments. “We’re looking for companies that have some kind of sustainable competitive advantage,” Bloomberg news agency quotes Buffett’s speech. He also stressed that his “view on Japanese people and Japanese industries remains unchanged.” “We just had a demonstration over months that the tsunami did not stop Japanese business and the people,” said billionaire. After the press conference Buffett said in Japa-nese: “Do not give up Fukushima!”
