January 25. 1919. The Provisional Workers’ and Peasants’ Government of Ukraine approved a declaration On the Need to Unite the Ukrainian and Russian Soviet Republics on the Basis of a Socialist Federation.

1931. An All-Ukrainian Week to Combat Illiteracy began.

January 26. 1993. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists.

1995. The first regional center for certificate auctions was opened in Zhytomyr.

January 27. 1918. The UNR delegation signed a peace treaty with representatives of the Central Powers in Brest-Litovsk.

1924 The Kyiv city and provincial councils approved a decision to erect a monument to Lenin in Kyiv.

January 28. 1930. An Extraordinary Church Council abolished the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.

1992. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the national blue and yellow banner as the State Flag of Ukraine.

January 29. 1900. The Revolutionary Ukrainian Party, the first Ukrainian political party in Dnipro Ukraine, was created in Kharkiv.

January 30. 1868. A musical school, now Kyiv Gliere Musical College, was opened in Kyiv.

1992 . Ukraine joined the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Helsinki.

January 31. 1920. The first Ukrainian Communist newspaper in the US, Ukrayinsky shchodenni visti [Ukrainian Daily News] started its publication in New York.

1966. The Council of Ministers of USSR approved a decision, On Creating the Kyiv Trade and Economy Institute.
